--Tonight we continue the Tenets (Beliefs or Doctrines) of faith:

12. Divine Healing

--You cannot read the Old Testament, and especially the New Testament, without seeing that divine healing is an integral part of the Gospel and the Word of God.

--Included in the atonement (Jesus being beaten and giving His life for us) was not only for the forgiveness of sins but healing of our bodies. By His stripes we were healed.

1 Peter 2:24 (NKJV)
24  who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed.

--Obviously this was prophesied in the book of Isaiah chapter 53: How amazing God’s Word is!

Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)
5  But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

Matthew 8:16-17 (NKJV)
16  When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,
17  that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses."

--As a new believer I wanted Jesus to save my parents so much that I prayed a crazy prayer with sincerity. I said, Lord, I am willing to lose my life if it would mean my mom and dad getting saved. He heard my prayer.

--A couple of weeks later I was in the Morehouse General Hospital. I was such a sick puppy that I had passed out. I woke up just in time to hear the doctor tell my mom he didn’t think I was going to make it.

--The doctor hurried out of the room when he saw I was awake. Obviously my mom (a nurse) was shaken. I told my mom my prayer for she and dad to be saved even if it meant my death. I said this may be it.

--The doctor explained to my mom how my kidneys and other organs had become twisted around each other. He said that we will try surgery the next day but there was not much hope. I was praying for my parents.

--That night while I was in my room alone, the Presence of God showed up. I said Lord I know you are here to either take me home with you or to heal me. I am good with whatever you want, just save my parents.

--The power of God came upon me and I was healed. They came to get me the next morning for surgery and I said nope. I said, do another x-ray because Jesus healed me last night. We argued but I won. I was healed.

--The doctor said I am going to keep you in here until I can find something wrong with you. He kept me 5 more days. Nothing. During that 5 days I went from room to room sharing Jesus. Many were saved. Parents saved!

James 5:14-16 (NIV)
14  Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15  And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.
16  Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

13. The Blessed Hope

--I have always said I hope that I am doing a graveside service for a saint of God when Jesus returns for us.
--We believe there will be a resurrection of those who have fallen asleep (God is so powerful He calls death sleep) and then, we who are still alive will be caught up (raptured) together in the air to meet the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (NKJV)
13  But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
14  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
15  For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
16  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
17  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
18  Therefore comfort one another with these words.

--Back to the graveside service…those graves are going to pop open and those who died loving Jesus are coming out to meet with those of us who are still alive. Jesus is coming and we will meet Him.

--Pastor, what about those who die and their lifeless bodies are at the funeral or in the grave. Well, it is like what my wife says about me, the shell is here but the nut is gone. We must prepare ourselves.

Titus 2:11-14 (NKJV)
11  For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
12  teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,
13  looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
14  who gave Himself for us…

1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (NLT2)
51  But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed!
52  It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed.
14. The Millennial Reign of Christ.
--Hear this…the second coming of Christ includes the rapture of the saints (our Blessed Hope) followed by the visible return of Christ with us to reign on the earth for 1000 years. Coming on white horses.
Matthew 24:27&30 (NKJV)
27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Revelation 20:1-6 (NKJV)
1  Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
2  He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;
3  and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
4  And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
5  But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6  Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
--The millennial reign will bring the salvation of National Israel.
Romans 9:26-27 (NKJV)
26  "And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them, 'You are not My people,' There they shall be called sons of the living God."
27  Isaiah also cries out concerning Israel: "Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, The remnant will be saved.
--The millennial reign will bring universal peace.
Isaiah 11:6-9 (NKJV)
6  "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, The leopard shall lie down with the young goat, The calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little child shall lead them.
7  The cow and the bear shall graze; Their young ones shall lie down together; And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8  The nursing child shall play by the cobra's hole, And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper's den.
9  They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD As the waters cover the sea.
15. The Final Judgment
--There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. The ones not found in the Book of Life, the devil and his demons, the beast, and the false prophet will be thrown into the lake of fire…which is the second death.
Revelation 20:11-15 (NKJV)
11  Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.
12  And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.
13  The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.
14  Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15  And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
16. The New Heaven and the New Earth
--We according to God’s promise, look for a new heaven and a new earth, where is only righteousness.

2 Peter 3:13 (NKJV) 13  Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
