2 Chronicles 7:12-16 (NKJV)
12 Then the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: "I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice.
13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people,
14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.
16 For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.

1. We are not having this time of prayer so that we can tell you who to vote for…that is your choice.
2. We are trying to convince you to vote and to let your voice be heard thru the ballot box.
3. We want you to vote and to vote for the candidates and platforms who are the closest to biblical values.
4. I hope we have the assurance that God hears our prayer and that He will answer when we pray.
5. God’s eyes and ears are open to the prayer being made here tonight.
Words: Corrupt Language Verses Lies
1. Can God use people who are not Christians for His purposes?
--One candidate has had a life filled with being vulgar and bombastic while the other is consistently caught lying (thirty years)…also who privately uses vile language. What a horrible choice we have.
--If we all had a choice to choose a candidate and could have them custom made…We would want a Spirit filled Christian, faithful to church, faithful to the Word, a giver, and somewhat more like us.
--I do not want to discourage anyone today but that is not our choices. Both candidates claim faith but seem to have a tough time walking that out…before we judge too harshly, many in the church have the same problem.
James Dobson: I think it would be awesome to have a righteous leader, one that understood the intricacies of the economy, health care, defense, immigration, with great sensitivity to religious institutions, a heart for the poor, a vision for the future. If that leader was a praying person, formidable in the word of God and loved the local church, I would rejoice! I do not think that is the choice we will have in November.
--The question remains…can God use someone like this to further is Kingdom, to protect His people?
Dobson: King Cyrus was someone who is dynamically used of God even though not perceived by many as a God follower. God has used many people in history that I would probably not like or agree with. I’m not sure I would have liked all the disciples, or David, or Moses. Somehow, God did not seem compelled to consult with me on His choices!
Dobson: I have always admired Winston Churchill. He is seen as one of the greatest national leaders in the 20th century. Last year, I had the privilege of going through the War Museum in London. Winston is a key feature. His life is controversial. He was not always celebrated as a great leader. He was a bombastic, cigar smoking, at times crude, even misogynistic leader. It is alleged that he told off color stories to his children before bedtime! A woman once told him he was disgustingly drunk. His response was "My dear, you are disgustingly ugly, but tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be ugly!"
--But, he had exactly what was needed to stop Hitler, to rouse a nation to never give up and to partner with America to find final victory in Europe.
--You probably wouldn't want him as your pastor, maybe not even your father, but he was the right leader for that moment in England's history. I’m not sure I would have voted for him.... but he was the right man!
2. What about the lying and vulgar language?
Ephesians 4:29 (NKJV)
29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

Proverbs 6:16-19 (NIV)
16 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

--I asked God what He thought and His answer to me was shocking! Definitely humbling! He took me to one of the major prophets during a time when Israel’s nation was hurting.
Isaiah 6:1-8 (NKJV)
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.
3 And one cried to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!"
4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 So I said: "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts."
6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar.
7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said: "Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged."
8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."

--God spoke to me…you think their words are vile and unclean and you want to judge them…everyone’s lips are unclean before Me even my great prophet Isaiah.
3. So how do we pray tonight?
Pray that we will have a revelation of God high and lifted up and His presence filling the church.
Pray that God will forgive us and our nation for having unclean and vile lips.
Pray that God will raise up whomever He will to defend our nation and to protect our Christian beliefs.
Pray that the leaders of our country will sense a divine calling and destiny to fulfill what God has raised them up to do.
Pray that God will send us into the middle of our nation to be a light and a witness to everyone we meet.
Pray that Christians will get out and vote for the platform that has the greatest Christian values.
